Behind The Scenes of a MSP Boudoir Session

Have you ever thought about having your own boudoir session but have just felt a bit too nervous to reach out? You're not alone!

Many of the women we serve feel the same way you do. A boudoir session starts as an idea where they say "Oh I couldn't." Pretty soon it changes to "Well, maybe I could." And before you know it there you are - doing the damn thing!

We know it's this experience can feel very vulnerable, so we do our best to get to know you, make you comfortable, and prepare you - with blogs like this!

Here is a behind the scenes look at one of our boudoir sessions.

The first part of every session starts before you ever set foot in our studio. We call this the "prep phase". During the time between you booking and your session, you will receive the following:

  1. Boudoir Prep Guide - this guide tells you EVERYTHING that you need to do (and not do) to prepare for your session! Here you will also get a link to view our client closet.

  2. Investment Guide - looking over our investment guide is an important part of your prep phase. You don't have to make any purchasing decisions until the day of your session, but its good to start thinking ahead of time, especially if you plan on ordering wall art! It's a great time to start thinking about where you would like to put your art and thinking about sizes. But no worries if this part isn't your forte, we can help you decide on the perfect pieces at your session.

  3. Pre-Session Questionnaire - this important document helps me get to know you, which ensures that you have an amazing boudoir experience! We want to know why you are booking a session, what you are looking to gain from it, if you have any injuries or allergies, fears, session ideas, and so much more! It's quick and painless, but it's super important!

  4. Model Release - OK, this part doesn't really help you prep for your session. But, what it does do is help you feel safe. Whether you choose a full, partial, or no release - the choice is completely yours and we respect the hell out of whatever you choose!

On the day of your session, you will come in to the studio and go straight into hair and makeup. We've worked really hard to make sure the studio is a warm and inviting place to help you relax. Enjoy a drink, eat a snack - whatever you want!

During hair and makeup, Mellissa will help you look and feel fabulous. You get to sit back and relax. During this time, I will hang out with you two and we will chat and use this time to loosen up.

Once hair and makeup is done, Mellissa will leave and we will go over your wardrobe pieces that you brought (if you are bringing some) and check out the client closet for anything else you would like to use.

Once we have a game plan, you will get dressed. Once your ready, we will go over my "studio rules".

  1. You are in charge. This session is about you and for you.

  2. This is a safe place and if you ever feel uncomfortable we address it and move on.

  3. If you have an idea - I want to hear it!

We will also go over a few helpful tips and things I will repeat to you throughout the session.

Our first pose will be something super easy, usually one you don't have to worry about your face in, just to give you some time to warm up.

We will spend the next hour and half rocking through sets, poses, and outfits!

I will pose you - head to toe - and show and talk you through you every pose.

Once this portion of your session is over, I'll have you get dressed. After that you can hang out and relax or go grab something to eat/drink. It takes me about 20 minutes to run through your images - and then, it's time for the reveal!

Your images wont be edited - so for this part you have to put on your rose colored glasses and trust me.

We will look at your photos and choose which ones you love! This part of your session always has me excited, becasue you seeing yourself as a total gorgeous baddie for the first time - it's priceless!

Once you have chosen your images, we will go over albums, covers, wall art - all the things!

After all your choices are made, I will spend the next two weeks editing your images and designing your album.

Before sending it off for print, I will send you your images and album design to check off on - then off to print it goes!

Albums are typically received in about 4 weeks and I will let you know as soon as they come in! (I'm as excited to give you your album and you are to get it! - it's my favorite day!)

And thats it - theres your boudoir session!

Not only did you not die, but, you actually even had fun!

In all seriousness, I can't thank you enough for putting your trust in me. It means more than I could ever put into words. I truly believe that the work we do in this studio changes the lives of women and the people around them - and that with confidence and power, a woman can follow her dreams and inspire others to do the same.

This is how we change the world.

xoxo
