Hey there! My name is Mackenzie and I'm your boudoir bestie at MSP Boudoir Studio in Bolivar, MO. If you aren't familiar with my little town, were located about 25 minutes north of Sprinfield, MO. You can learn more on my website, but for now, let's dig in!
So, you’ve been thinking about boudoir photography—maybe it’s something you’ve been curious about for a while, but you’ve got some doubts or maybe even a few fears.
I totally get it.
Boudoir can seem a little intimidating at first. But I promise, it’s a lot more fun and empowering than you might think!
There are a ton of myths floating around about boudoir photography, so I wanted to take a minute to clear up some of the biggest ones. Ready? Let’s go!
1. Boudoir Myth Number 1: “You Have to Be a Model to Do Boudoir.”

I hear this one all the time, and honestly, it’s one of the biggest myths. People think you have to be a professional model who knows how to pose perfectly. But that’s not the case at all!
Boudoir is for everyone—and I mean everyone. You don’t need any modeling experience to look incredible in front of the camera. My job is to guide you through every step of the way, from how to stand to where to look to what feels most natural for you. Trust me, you’ll feel like a pro by the end of your session. And you’ll look amazing doing it.
Fun Fact: I don't photograph professional models! All the photos you see are of REAL every-day women like you and I!

2. “Boudoir is Only for Special Occasions.”
A lot of people think boudoir photography is just for big events like weddings, anniversaries, or special gifts. But the truth is, boudoir is about celebrating YOU—whenever you feel like it.
Maybe you want to treat yourself to something empowering, or maybe you're feeling like it's time to step out of your comfort zone and embrace your body. You don’t need a reason to do boudoir other than the fact that you deserve to feel awesome about yourself. Trust me, it's a great confidence booster any time!
3. “I Need to Lose Weight First.”
This one breaks my heart because so many people feel like they can’t do boudoir unless they’re at their “perfect weight” or shape. But here’s the thing: you are perfect as you are right now.
Boudoir is about self-love, and it’s about embracing your body—no matter what size or shape you are. Every body is beautiful, and boudoir is a way to celebrate that beauty. When you step in front of the camera and embrace yourself for who you are today, you’ll leave your session feeling more confident than you ever have before.
4. “Boudoir is Too Risqué for Me.”

Some people think boudoir is all about super sultry, revealing shots, but that’s just not true. Boudoir can be as soft, elegant, or playful as you want it to be.
It’s all about your comfort level.
If you’re into more subtle, intimate photos, we can totally keep it low-key and classy. If you want something a little more daring, that’s totally up to you, too! The great thing about boudoir is that it’s about YOU and what feels right for you. We’ll make sure it’s exactly what you want.
5. “I Have to Sign a Model Release to Share My Photos Publicly.”
This is one of the biggest concerns I hear. A lot of people assume that if they do boudoir, they’ll have to sign away their rights and let the whole world see their photos.
Here’s the truth: You are in complete control of your images.
If you don’t want to share your photos publicly or on social media, you don’t have to. I respect your privacy, and I never share anything without your explicit permission. Some clients love sharing their photos, but it’s 100% up to you. Your photos are yours to keep as private as you want them to be.
So, What Do You Think?
I hope busting these myths helped clear up some of the doubts you might have had about boudoir photography! It’s honestly one of the most fun and empowering experiences, and I know you’ll walk away from your session feeling amazing about yourself.
